‘Yoga teaches us to cure what need
not be endured and endure what cannot be cured.’

~ Iyenga

Yoga therapy is a client-centred application of yoga for therapeutic purposes. The holistic approach promotes the integration of mental, physical, spiritual, and emotional client health. A range of therapeutic modalities are offered to aid healing of established or newer pain, stress, fatigue, illness, diseases, injuries and more.

For in-person therapy sessions, COVID-19 protocols may still be adhered to as health bodies change contact parameters. Online sessions can also be quite beneficial if preferred. E-mail is an option for discussion, instructions and direction after an in-person or online consultation.

Adults – yoga therapy applications can be applied to all degrees of health, abilities and challenges. Sessions are 25, 55 and 85 minutes.

Adolescents, Children and Babies – benefit from yoga therapy. A parent or guardian is required to be present. Please see modules for various areas of yoga therapy. Sessions are 25 to 55 minutes.

Please wear no scents or oils for in-person sessions.

Assessment – A complete assessment in person may take up to 55 minutes. You receive a written overview of your challenges, how yoga therapy can help you, home practice instructions and a schedule.

Yoga Therapy is offered after an assessment in three, five or seven-session groupings. Single sessions are provided after the initial group and for long-term clients.

What to Expect

Assessment

Initial assessment is a holistic approach to address your physical, emotional, mental, work and spiritual life, weaknesses, strengths, and challenges.

We go over what you want to achieve, your aims, and your objectives. A course of therapy is developed for you, plus skills to build, improve and maintain your health as a whole person.

During Session

Sessions include physical movement, instruction and adjustments, meditation, breathwork and perspective to meet your needs.

Experience a calm, mindful practice to learn skills and exercises you can duplicate at home.

Please note: sometimes, you may cry or feel giddy when your emotions and physical stress are released.

Afterwards

You may feel tired, sore, happier, better, light, mobile, physical comfort, ease of mind, less pain, and relaxed. Please drink plenty of water and rest.

I suggest you take 15 minutes or more to sit, have a cup of tea or lemon water and allow your mind, body and energy to acclimate. Be still with yourself. Write questions down as they arise for our next session.

A sequence of practice, direction and suggestions will be given. You are welcome to e-mail me between sessions for clarification.

Number of Sessions

Yoga Therapy is offered in three, five or seven groupings to promote maximum healing, correction, and abilities—only single sessions are provided to regular clients.

Treatment is offered in the same month or two to make substantial shifts in healing.  You may find after a couple of sessions, your therapeutic objectives change as your health improves.

When booking appointments, please leave time after sessions to acclimate the process.  Some changes may be minimal and not apparent until time passes.

The Practice

Evaluate

In each session, we evaluate your progress, needs and changes. The evaluation dictates how we proceed.

Practice

The practice follows your healing needs. Begin with grounding yourself, breathing in life and exhaling a connection to being present.

Acclimate

Savasana – Silent stillness concludes your practice with physical, mental and spiritual acclimation for long-term changes.

Outcome

A peaceful calm and balance may overcome you up to two days after your session.  Drink plenty of water or water-based foods to prevent dizziness.
