‘Yoga does not transform the way we see things; it transforms the person who sees.’
~ Iyengar
Overview
Yoga sessions are offered in your chosen space – home, office, or other. Please have a comfortable area where you can be seated and lie on the floor. Please have a sturdy chair, and yoga supplies for your practice: mat, blocks and straps.
We explore yoga styles, yogasanas, focus and direction that best fit your life, abilities and aim. During your session, I use contact and non-contact help, non-invasive techniques, direction, listening, hearing, and reactive processes like ocean waves, energy ebb, and flow.
Establishing Your Practice
Together, we develop a yoga practice at your level of knowledge and experience.
I welcome the beginner and the experienced.
You do not have to be flexible or fit or have tried yoga previously.
Yogasana is the physical movement with the breath and is the most practised aspect of yoga in the West.
The physical aspect of yoga is both the breath, known as pranayama and asanas or poses. They are suitable for all ages, fitness levels, flexibility and experience.
You may include any of yoga’s Eight Fold Paths in your practice.
- Make space in your home that can become a refuge
- Keep a Journal of your practice to refer to and learn from
- Learn sanskrit – the language of yoga
- Over time, you can define your practice to meet your changing needs
- Invest in yoga aids: mats, blocks, bolster, belts, balls and more
- How to combine physical, mental and spiritual aspects of yoga (breath, meditation, relaxation)
- Build a library of books about all aspects of yoga
- Learn when to take breaks, and when to let the practice carry you
- Go to bed when tired, rise when rested
